A used book drive—Nov. 10-14!

Books
WAYS TO DONATE:

Don't have any books to donate, or don't have the time to look through them all?  There are other ways to donate.  You can also help by contributing to the “A Story Like Mine” program, which purchases new diverse books so every child can see themselves represented in the stories they read.

DONATE BOOKS:
We all know what a huge difference having access to books makes for our kids.

Please help share the love of reading by bringing in gently-used children's books from Nov. 10-14th. They'll be donated to the Children's Book Bank at SMART Reading, which distributes free book bundles to thousands of local preschool and Head Start students. It's a good reason to go through your overcrowded bookshelves!

WHAT to donate:

Board books and picture books (no more than a paragraph of text per page) and early reader books.

What's NOT accepted:

Chapter books, vintage or very damaged books, former library copies, religious books, coloring books.

WHEN to donate:

Monday Nov. 10 — Friday Nov. 14th

WHERE to donate:

Collection bins will be at both Alameda doors on 27th as well as under the covered area.

Or help buy new diverse books:

The sad fact is that many recipients don't see themselves in donated books. Contribute here to the "A Story Like Mine" program, which buys new books with diverse representation to make sure stories centering people of color, immigrants, people with disabilities, and the LGBTQ+ community are included in book bundles.
